CAHAL is a yeshiva-based program of self-contained classes for children with learning differences from Kindergarten through High School. CAHAL was organized by local Rabbis, Principals and community leaders who were concerned with the challenges presented by children who were not succeeding in the mainstream yeshiva class, even with resource room or other support.

Fighting Illness With Love. Chai Lifeline restores the light of childhood to children whose innocence ended when cancer, life-threatening, or lifelong illness was diagnosed. Through programs that address the emotional, social, and financial needs of seriously ill children, their families, and communities, Chai Lifeline restores normalcy to family life, and better enables families to withstand the crises and challenges of serious pediatric illness.

The Five Towns Early Learning Center has cared for children of working parents for over 70 years. The center provides a quality early childhood education and care for 54 children ages eighteen months to five years in a full day setting.

The beginnings of Hatzalah of the Rockaways and Nassau County go back 30 years when a handful of volunteers took it upon themselves to rescue lives in Rockaway and Lawrence. Since then the organization has evolved into an all-volunteer force that is licensed, equipped and ready to respond 24/7 to any and all medical emergencies between Belle Harbor, East Rockaway and North Woodmere.

The summer program has had its door open to young boys with an interest in football for over 50 years making it one of the oldest and most historic members of the 16 Nassau County Football League teams. Established in 2004, Lev Leytzan is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) based in New York. We rely entirely on volunteers and donations to manage our many programs and services. Lev Leytzan is led by a multidisciplinary board of directors that includes representatives from the community, the medical establishment, and the arts, as well as spiritual leaders and program alumni.  During months of intensive work, our clowns are given the tools and the confidence they need to deliver joyful, restorative experiences to the sick, mentally challenged, frail and elderly.

This volunteer program, originally part of Civil Defense, was created by federal law in the 1940's to protect the residents of the United States during, before and after attack by enemy forces.

SIBSPLACE is a free therapeutic program of South Nassau Communities Hospital. The program serves children aged 5-17, who are living with a sibling with cancer or another devastating illness, or a parent with cancer. SIBSPLACE provides support and attention to the unique experience and needs of the well children as they face the issues and conflicts related to the illness of their loved one.

Gently used casual and business clothing, career services and domestic violence counseling are available at the Marion and Aaron Gural JCC Sustenance Center in Maple Plaza Mall in Cedarhurst. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Rina Shkolnik Kosher Food Pantry is a joint initiative of The Marion and Aaron Gural Jewish Community Center and UJA-Federation of New York and is supported by the Five Towns Community Chest and the Inwood Charities Fund. The pantry assists individuals and families by providing nutritious nonperishable food packages consisting of tuna fish, pasta, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, breakfast cereal and much more. Serving approximately 300 families a month and over 1000 people, they also provide toiletries such as shampoo, deodorant, tooth brushes and toothpaste and diapers.

For over forty years Tempo Group, a non-profit community based counseling center, has been addressing the concerns of youth, adults and families. Tempo Group has developed prevention, education, intervention and treatment programs in all areas related to substance abuse and family issues.

Tomchei Shabbos Yad Yeshaya of the Five Towns and Far Rockaway, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was founded in 1985 in memory of Yeshaya Alpert z’l to provide food for Shabbos and Yom Tov to our needy neighbors. We currently support approximately 285 families on a weekly basis, with more receiving assistance before Pesach.
